Well what a truly amazing day! Surrounded with inspirational, motivational, dedicated and like minded people! Salon Cymru 2018 has been an absolute ‘wow’, and I loved every second.

For the first time this year we saw and enjoyed the spa awards categories, with more than worthy winners of junior facialist and massage therapists. My secret missions for mystery visits up and down the motorway and treatments all worthwhile, and massive thank you to my therapy friends that I roped in to help me out with this too.

How tough was it to act like you know nothing when it comes to spa and beauty, I seriously just had to keep my mouth shut and let these fantastic therapists do the talking. I was so impressed by the calibre of treatment and moreover, the extreme attention and quality levels of customer care.

As ever a gorgeous group of judges in our judges huddle on the fourth floor, being kept well away from the hive of activity in the main hall at Y Plas, in the Student Union in Cardiff. In particular Debra Smart and of course for the first time Ffion Caddick (no surprise there!) Awe inspired by the competitors, and massive well done to all whom took part.

The fantasy make up from the Debenhams collective was astonishing and not far removed from the Hairdressing Avant Garde Category, the colours, creativity and boundary bending was there for all to see.

Throngs of visitors, and the vibe was such a party atmosphere, with plenty of supporters having driven long journies to really enjoy the day. I can’t believe it’s all over again for another year.

Always coming back stronger and more enthused than ever, I really am hoping that the spa categories will grow next year, and already I will be working on this, and how we can improve further on this year’s offering.

It would be remiss of me not to mention, how yet again, I love to see the number of devoted and committed professionals who give their time and experience voluntarily to ‘give something back’ at every given opportunity to our wonderful industry. An amazing arena in which to work, and I for one, would never choose to change the career path I have lived, and judging by today’s experience, there are plenty of time served and ‘newbies’ that feel exactly the same.

Thank you all for such a wonderful event.
